Demonstrations and Civic Engagement

Participation in demonstrations for freedom, human rights and social change in Iran.

In addition to cultural and university-related activities, IStA was also active in civic and social engagement. Members of the association participated in demonstrations and events in Mainz, Frankfurt and Munich. In Mainz, IStA was also involved in organizing some of these actions. These activities focused on freedom, human rights and solidarity with the people of Iran. IStA aimed to show that the voices of people in Iran must also be heard outside the country and that the Iranian diaspora plays an important role in raising international awareness. A special focus was placed on supporting a free and democratic future for Iran. The association understands its engagement as part of a larger movement for dignity, self-determination and social renewal. Participation in demonstrations showed the connection between student engagement and civic responsibility. IStA made clear that students are not only active academically, but also take responsibility for social and political developments.
